Nova tecnologia detecta emoções nas mensagens instantâneas
5 10 2007Desenvolvido por engenheiros chilenos, o software consegue descortinar sete emoções (ternura, alegria, surpresa, medo, repulsa e neutralidade) e quatro estados de ânimo diferentes (resignação, ressentimento, tranquilidade e ambição) durante as conversas travadas em programas como o Messenger, da Microsoft.
Para os seus criadores, os engenheiros Roberto González e Edmundo Leiva, o programa funciona como um «espelho tecnológico». Isto porque as expressões faciais dos utilizadores são captadas através de uma webcam e processadas de acordo com os princípios da biometria. Por fim, é apresentado no ecrã do computador o estado de ânimo revelado pela pessoa naquele determinado momento.
De acordo com Edmundo Leiva, um dos engenheiros responsáveis pelo projecto, o software acerta, em média, quase 3 em cada 4 vezes (72%). Apesar de a taxa de sucesso não ser 100%, já que isso implicaria «medir outros factores biométricos como o suor ou a respiração», Leiva ressalva que os resultados deixam os investigadores «muito satisfeitos».
A tecnologia utiliza uma base de dados com milhares de fotografias de pessoas de diferentes raças, culturas e sexos e analisa 13 características do rosto humano.
